Of festival seasons past and present

I love festival season. I've been watching Glastonbury all this weekend (Blur are on soon ♥). So here are some of my favourite gig videos.

Escapist, Paradise Seeker...

On the subject of birdcages. Anyone who knows me will know that I always wear a necklace with one on. The birdcage has a significant meaning to me. Ever since I could remember, I've wanted to be somewhere else: in childhood this took the form of daydreaming, as I got older, this became an apparently insatiable wanderlust. However, this want to escape my own reality makes me feel guilty. I have no reason to want to escape. There is nothing wrong in my life. In fact, I'm incredibly careful not to take that for granted, so these escapist notions make me feel incredibly selfish. But it dawned on me: I can't be the only one who feels like this. Nightwish once wrote "a nightingale in a golden cage, that's me locked inside reality's maze... this is who I am, Escapist, paradise seeker." The song initially shocked me to the core - I was amazed that one song could sum me up so well. The birdcage is to remind me of the song. Yes I'm selfish. Yes I'm an escapist. But that's human nature. And I'm okay with that.
